Since 1981 have provided a computer-based service for data reduction of long-term ECG and respiratory waveform recording of infants. These continuous, 2-channel analog recordings, or pneumograms, are typically 12 to 24 hours in length.
The data acquisition, scanning techniques and reporting procedures evolved from adult Holter monitoring techniques.
The impetus for pediatric development was to support the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research programs being conducted by the National Institute of Child Care and Human Development. Our clients are hospitals, home medical equipment dealers and physicians.
InfaScan Diagnostic Services pioneered the expansion of the two-channel pneumogram to multi-channel recordings. InfaScan was the first scanning service to offer the analysis of multi-channel recordings for infant and adults.
The parameters included ECG, thoracic impedence, oral/nasal airflow, blood oxygen saturation, esophageal pH, and CPAP pressure. Infascan Diagnostic Services has analyzed approximately 25,000 sleep recordings received from 30 states

as a result of consulting done, by Cynthia Goins, RRT, company president, with the North Carolina Association of Medical Equipment Providers and the North Carolina Department of Medical Assistance, the Apnea Monitor Data Management Program was developed.
This program was designed to assist the HME providers and the primary care physicians in the management of infants at home on apnea monitors by providing the download and review of event waveform data with an expert physician’s interpretation.
